When we first started helping psychologists and mental health practitioners and build their websites, we noticed a pattern—many of them were incredible at what they did, but their digital presence didn’t reflect that. A lot of therapists and counselors rely on word-of-mouth or outdated directories, which means potential clients who need them the most often struggle to find them. We also often found that they had very complicated websites that they didn't know how to update and were very dated in terms of design when lead many visitors to leave before contacting them.
That’s why having a website isn’t just about marketing; it’s about accessibility. It’s about creating a space where someone, in the middle of a difficult night, can find a reassuring face, read about an approach that resonates with them, and take that first step toward getting help.

At Siimple, we designed our website builder to strip away all the frustrating tech barriers that keep therapists from getting online. No coding, no complicated setup—just a clean, professional site that they can customize in minutes. One of our users, an anxiety therapist, told us she had been putting off making a website for years because it felt overwhelming. With Siimple, she launched her site in a weekend, and within a month, she had a steady flow of new inquiries—people who might never have found her otherwise. It’s stories like that that remind me why we built Siimple in the first place.
Why Having a Website Matters for Mental Health Professionals
Research shows that 70 to 80% of people research a practice online before calling, so having a place on the internet where people can come to get information about you and understand your approach to care is so important
A website builds trust, it conveys your philosophy, and it demystifies therapy for potential clients that need help.
What You’ll Learn in This Guide
In this article, you'll learn:
- How to set up your own website (no tech experience required!)
- How to customize the design
- How to write content that attracts your ideal clients
- The most important sections for mental health professionals
And the best part? It costs about the same as a fancy cup of coffee per month.
The Website Builder We’ll Be Using
The tool we're going to be using is called Siimple, and all you need is a free account to get started.
Step 1: Creating Your Website in Siimple
Once you're inside Siimple, the first thing you'll see is the ability to create a new site. You can click on the dropdown to explore pre-made themes.

All of these themes are combinations of different designs and demo content. Even if you see a template labeled "Landscaping," for example. you can still customize it for a therapy practice, coaching business, or anything else.
For this tutorial, we’ll make it easy and start with the therapist pre-made theme.

Step 2: Previewing and Selecting Your Theme
When you click on the therapist theme, you can preview the demo. It’s a beautiful, clean, and professional design.
This template isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s built using millions of dollars in sales data and over 20 years of research on what actually converts visitors into clients.
Step 3: Naming and Describing Your Website
- Name Your Website – We'll call this one Bloom Mental Health.
- Write a Short Description – This helps the website builder personalize your site. A good starting point could be:
"Helping you navigate the daily challenges of life with more ease and grace."

Once that’s done, click Create Site to proceed.
Customizing Your Website
Now that the site is set up, let's go through the most important customization options.
1. Understanding Page Sections
There are three key sections to know:
- Page Sections – These show all available sections that you can add, such as an About section. You can drag and drop them, edit, reorder, or delete them.

- Global Design – Allows you to change the theme, upload your logo, and adjust colors and fonts.

- Settings – Lets you change your site name, description, and domain name.

2. Choosing a Color Palette and Fonts
To ensure accessibility and readability, Siimple only allows you to choose from pre-balanced color palettes instead of picking random hex codes.
This means you won’t have to worry about contrast issues, which are required by law for accessibility compliance.
The same applies to fonts—Siimple offers pre-matched font pairings that look great together.

3. Setting Up Your Domain Name
Your website will initially be published as a free subdomain (e.g., bloommentalhealth.siimple.site).
If you own a custom domain, you can easily connect it by following these steps:
- Click Use a Domain Name You Own
- Enter your domain
- Follow the simple setup instructions to link it

If you don’t have a domain yet, Siimple also lets you purchase one directly through the platform.

4. Adding Website Analytics
Want to track visitors to your site? Siimple supports both Google Analytics and built-in analytics, making it easy to see how your site is performing.

Website Copy and Content that Works
Now let’s break down the key sections you need to include in your mental health website.
1. Creating a Strong Hero Section (Header)
The hero section is the first thing visitors see, and you only have 3 to 5 seconds to grab their attention.

Key elements of a great hero section:
- A clear statement about who you are and how you help
- Reassurance for visitors who might feel anxious or uncertain
- A simple, direct message like:
"I offer online individual psychotherapy to those looking to regain a sense of balance and reduce their suffering through weekly virtual sessions." - Writing with Siimple AI - you can use our AI feature to help you write content for any of the sections of your website
Adding a Clear Call to Action
Encourage visitors to take action by adding a "Book a Free Consultation" button.
It’s also highly recommended to include a picture of yourself—not a generic stock photo.
2. The Benefits Section
This section, though small, is actually really important because many visitors to your website are searching for answers to questions like: "Can this therapist really help me with what I'm going through?"
When potential clients see their own worries reflected in your words, they feel seen and understood. This is a powerful way to build trust and encourage them to take the next step.
So to edit this section, just click on "Edit Feature Section."

Now, you can do a few things here. You can change the layout so it can have boxes or not, it can be center-aligned or left-aligned, and you can change how many columns.
So if you want to only add two, you can add two, three, etc.
Now, to add one of these cards, you just click on "Add Items," and you can see that we have three added here. Click on the toggle, and you'll be able to remove the icon.
You can add an icon, and you simply click "Replace" here to choose from thousands of icons that are already here for you.

So let's say we want to use this leaf. We can change that. There are so many—there are some colorful ones here as well.

And then you can add in a title and a description.
Using Siimple AI to write your copy
Now, if you don't know what to write here, you don't have to worry about it. You can click on this star icon to use Siimple AI to generate some text here.
So we'll click on that, and it says here:
"Many individuals experience feelings of worry or depression, which can significantly impact their daily lives and overall well-being."

This is a great starting point. You can riff off of that, you can change it, you can add to it.
This helps you save a ton of time when you're staring at that blank screen trying to figure out what to write.
Now, you can duplicate these if you want to make more, and you're done.
3. Highlighting Your Services and Pricing
Next, we go deeper into services and pricing. This is usually the next most important part for people. Transparency is key, especially in mental health services.
Pricing is very important, especially when it comes to healthcare. People want to understand if they can even afford your services.
But the services and pricing—it's not just about cost. It's an opportunity for you to communicate the value of working with you and what type of therapy you offer.
Your services section needs to convey three things:
- Reassure them that you offer what they're looking for.
- Demystify the process by explaining your modalities in simple, approachable language.
- Remove barriers to action by clearly outlining what they can expect from you—pricing, session length, outcomes, etc.
To edit these, it's the same as before. Hover over this to click on "Edit Offerings," and you'll see all of these little elements.

You can also add an image. You can add an image here, and when you click on "Image," you can choose to upload your own or choose a stock photo.
There are tons of stock photos built in here already. I'm going to type in "therapy"—and I see one of a doctor holding a notebook.
To keep the website really clean and functional, you can add a very long description, but it will automatically truncate a long description here and add this "More Details" button.

So, if the visitor wants to read more, they can click on "More Details," and will see that full popup with more information.
Back into edit—when you're on an item, you can add the price here, any tags you want.

So let's say that this is "Individual," and a cute little tag will appear there.
And then you can add any external links that you want to that modal.
4. The About Section
The about section is a great place to share your own personal story, interests, philosophy or anything that visitors might resonate with
5. Showcasing Your Education Credentials and Experience
Mental health is a regulated field, so visitors want to know they’re in good hands.
Adding an education or credential section is a great way to showcase these things and to reassure visitors that you're qualified, experienced, and capable of providing the support they need.
To add your education insert a 'Timeline' Page section. This timeline style let's you add a scrollable area of linear items like
- Licensing details
- Certifications
- Years of experience
- Résume

You'll see a place to add an image or a logo, a title and a description, and the start and end date.
You can also change this to a horizontal sliding style.
6. Testimonials: Building Trust with Potential Clients
Another important section is the testimonials section—it gives potential clients a glimpse of what it's like to work with you from the perspective of those who you've already helped.
It builds trust, credibility, and relatability by showing real-life examples of how your services have made a difference in others' lives.

While social proof and reviews are powerful in mental health services, client confidentiality is above anything else. So if you are sharing testimonials from past or current clients, make sure to not use any names or identifying info or images, and adhere to any regulations in your region.
We can easily click on these testimonials and make them anonymous by replacing this with a stock image or removing it altogether.
Client confidentiality is important, so if you include testimonials, make sure they are:
- Anonymous (no names or identifiable details)
- Compliant with legal and ethical guidelines
Testimonials help new clients see the value of your work through real-life experiences.
7. The Location Section
If you have a physical location this is an important area. If you don’t, then you can just show where you generally practice and clearly state that you're telehealth only.

You can also add multiple locations—so maybe if you work at multiple clinics or you have multiple practice locations, you can add them here.
8. Adding an FAQ Section for SEO and Client Education
Now, this may seem unassuming, and for many website owners, it's an afterthought. But for mental health professionals, it might just be the most important section of your website.
Why?
Because not only does it directly address questions that are in the minds of visitors, it's also a powerful SEO tool where you can add keywords so that when people are Googling those questions, they actually find you.
For example, a popular question is: Do you accept insurance? Do you offer a sliding scale?

And I'm sure there are plenty more that you have in mind that you can add here that you've heard before.
An FAQ section helps answer common questions like:
- Do you accept insurance?
- Do you offer a sliding scale for pricing?
It also helps with SEO—search engines rank your website higher if it answers frequently Googled questions.
9. Setting Up a Contact Form
Siimple’s contact form is privacy-friendly—it doesn’t store messages on their servers, so client confidentiality is protected.

This is configured by putting in your email address, so it can be much more compliant if you're using an email client that is secure, such as a Gmail address.
10 Final Steps: Publishing Your Website
Once everything is customized and ready, click Publish to double check your settings and make your site live.
- Double-check your domain name
- Ensure your contact form email is correct
- Click Publish Now
- That's it! Your site is live! 🎉
